So I’m trying to overcome the issues of ultra high powers by doing contacts with tuning lenses over. I have ~1D of astigmatism. Cylinder isn’t available in contacts at my prescription (in the US), the doc isn’t concerned and prescribed me sphere only contacts. But I have a lot of glare and double-images with contacts or contacts + differentials. I wonder if it would be beneficial to add the cylinder back in to the differentials?
Jake says drop cylinder up close if less than 1d. My experience is drop only 0.25 to 0.5d. When you are corrected for astigmatism you can tolerate a larger drop in sph. Have you tried just adding part of it with test lens kit?
I think that’s what I need to do next. It’s just a little odd to put in more cyl than the doc says to… (Although the manifest refraction from prior doc says I need it.)
